Fact: HIV has been shown beyond reasonable doubt to be the cause of

AIDS.

There is an abundance of evidence showing HIV is the cause of AIDS. With very few exceptions, the human immunodeficiency virus itself or antibodies to HIV are detected in people with AIDS. Studies of people who are HIV-positive show they are more likely to develop AIDS symptoms and more likely to die at younger ages than people without HIV. Scientists can now describe in great detail how HIV infection occurs and causes AIDS

I'm not going to search to find out if I'm wrong, I'm just going to share what I understand about HIV and Aids.

You can contract HIV from an Aids person through exchange of body fluids, you can easily go 10 years with having HIV and no sign of Aids, your chances increase that you will get Aids but doesn't necessarily mean you will, you could be a carrier.

Hiv is generally how it starts? (this part I am unsure of) First you get HIV and then you could get Aids, but it would never be a case where you have Aids that turns into Hiv. The only way to get Hiv is from another person with Hiv or a person who has Aids.

You can not catch HIV or AIDS from talking to, shaking hands, or being around a person who has it, so unless you plan to suck their blood you're safe :)
